This seems like the beginning of the journey for Entison but in truth this is a lifetimes work now coming into focus. Entison (Nathan Thomas) spent most of his early years learning the craft of songwritting and recording within genres very different to his personal work but in that time learnt much about artistry and the importance of authenticity. During the pandemic (like many artists) he took a deep dive into his personal writing and began self producing an album at his home studio in Bournemouth. Largely influenced by Indie folk, classical, alternative electro and classic songwriters of bygone eras, Entison developed a unique approach to writing and production and combined guitars, vocals, LoFi production styles and experimental electronic music to create a new landscape to showcase his own writing.
In 2013 he was diagnosed with cancer and after surgery and chemotherapy he came through to be given the all clear in 2018. This clearly shifted his attention to existential questioning and “what we leave behind” and created an obsessive motivation to record an album. It soon became clear he was creating a blue print of himself for his children.
In the late summer of 2022 Entison moved his family away from the quickening pace of life in Bournemouth to the depths of the countryside in Norfolk to be able to finish the album and focus on his artistry full time. The support from his wife and 3 children features heavily in his writing as does the loss of his mother in that time.
Towards what seemed like the end of recording the album, Entison drew on a deep friendship with long time musical collaborator Marc Rapson to add layers, colour and new dynamics to the body of work that he had had been developing during lock down. This created new space and landscapes with tracks such as Mid July, Embers and I Will Be Home and also indicates where their collaboration could lead to next.
US label “People Of The Light” were the first to show a keen interest in what Entison has been creating and released the single “Indigo” in the February of 2024 with 2 enchanting remixes from Jay Hill.
The album is to come later in 2024 and Entison will be at live events in the UK road testing the what has been many years in the studio, sharing his deepest dive introspectively and musically and hopes that people connect with his songs like the oldest of friends and continue to journey further with him.
